The UNESCO Chair “Internationalization of Higher Education and Global Citizenship” at the University of Guadalajara is an academic project whose purpose is to improve the quality and relevance of higher education institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean by providing them with resources, knowledge, and training to address the challenges arising from globalization, with the aim of making a meaningful contribution to society.

The Chair’s project is grounded in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and is directly related to SDG 4: “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all,” specifically targets 4.3: “By 2030, ensure equal access for all women and men to affordable and quality technical, vocational and tertiary education, including university education”; and 4.7: “By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to promote sustainable development, including, among other things, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, the promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship, and the appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development.”
